Thank you for your interest in joining our Region to become a certified Ref and to better understand and enjoy the game of soccer with your child.
Because we are experiencing a shortage of referees in many of our divisions, we are holding certification courses in June to assure we have an adequate number of refs committed to the fall season.
If you signed up to be a ref in your child’s division, on behalf of the MANY children in our Region, THANK YOU! However, whichever divisions where we fall short in our ref commitments and training BEFORE June 15 will determine if we will need to implement a lottery system for player registrations received on-time**.
** NOTE: ONLY children of those refs (and/or certified coaches) who complete their respective courses will be exempt. This includes LATE Registrants interested in guaranteeing their child's spot in the Fall 2007 seaon. All other children (including those players of individuals who signed up to ref, but subsequently fail to attend the training) will be exposed to a lottery for Fall Registration team formation if we do not have an adequate number of trained volunteer refs.
(June 15 is the deadline because the exhaustive task of determining our final number of players, coaches and certified refs then deteremines the number of teams in a given division; which then determines the number of fields for permits; which then guides game schedule formatting; numbers of uniforms to order, etc; so ultimately team formation can be completed in time for August coaching meetings and information distribution prior to the start of the Fall season).
