Referee Weeknight Workshops
The Referees of 1/C/214 (South Pasadena/San Marino) will again be
presenting a series of evening workshops this fall designed to help you
apply the LAWS OF THE GAME. Each evening will be headlined by a
veteran referee who will share his thoughts and experiences.
The evening begins with a short social gathering to get acquainted, then
we settle down for about an hour of formal presentation, followed by
Q&A. This is a great time to ask how to handle specific
situations you may have encountered.
Sept 26 - Law 12 for Upper Division
Tony Vasquez, Area C Director of Referee Instruction, will guide us
through some typical Fouls and Misconduct scenarios. While focusing on
U16 & U19, the material is highly applicable to U12 and U14 as well.
Oct 3 - Law 12 and Game Management
Kleber Camacho, long time referee team-mate of Leo Nedeff, will share
some attitudes and techniques that have helped make the game more
enjoyable for everyone. Applicable to all age divisions.
Oct 10 - Law 11 and the Diagonal System
Bob Vanderwall, Region 214's "Dean of Referees", will illustrate how
much more effective the referees can be in calling offside when the
Diagonal System (aka, the 3 Man System) is used properly.
This evening is intended primarily for U10, U12, and U14.
Please join us these evenings at the Senior Center, 7 - 9 PM. The
Senior Center is located at 1102 Oxley Street, immediately adjacent to
the South Pasadena Public Library. Use the side entrance on Fair View Ave.
