All-Star Evaluations....and General Info

(NOTE:  Graduation Series for older U8 players is NOT an all-star program, but is a supplemental season which runs concurrently to All-Stars.  Information will be provided separately).

All-Star evaluation Sunday will tentatively take place on Sunday, 11 November in each of the competitive divisions (U10, U12, U14)...and MAYBE on Sunday, 18 November as a make-up...this is not yet confirmed.  More details will be provided shortly on times, dates, locations, for all divisions.

Typically, players are invited to be evaluated for all-stars by performing in a series of skills and drills stations while coaches observe and make notations and ratings.

Next, all coaches in a division are invited to participate in the All-Star player voting meetings where our Region selects those players voted into all-stars.

Reminder about the All-Star teams formed in our Region and Area:

1).  Each Region in our Area 1C in each division selects one SECTION all-star team (made up of the majority being top older players with only a few top younger players), and a pro-rated amount of OPEN picks for the Section Coach to complete and supplement the team with a balance of appropriate positions  (i.e. if coaches voted all strikers/midfielders and left a coach without defenders or a keeper, he/she would fill in the remainder with appropriate players highly rated in the approprate positions).  The Section teams play one another in Area 1C play and top teams at the end of the Area 1C playoff move on to Section One play.

2).   Each Region in our Area 1C, in each division, selects one AREA all-star team (made up of the majority being the top younger players with only a few older players), and a pro-rated amount of OPEN picks for the Area Coach to complete and supplement the team with a balance of appropriate positions  (i.e. if coaches voted all strikers/midfielders and left a coach without defenders or a keeper, he/she would fill in the remainder with appropriate players highly rated in the approprate positions).  Like in Section teams, the Area teams play one another in Area 1C play and top teams at the end of the Area 1C playoff move on to Section One play.

3).  Each Region in our Area 1C, in each division, selects a number of REGIONAL all-star teams (made up of the remainder of top vote-getting older/younger players to fill the number of competitive teams each division can appropriately form), with a pro-rated amount of OPEN picks for the Regional Coaches to complete and supplement the team with a balance of appropriate positions as noted previously.

The Regional all-star teams do play other Region's Regional All-Star teams, and may also play against our own Regional all-star teams depending on the schedule assigned.  There is not usually a Regional All-Star team playoff, unless any division creates their own....but none of the Regional All-star teams will advance beyond the all-star season.

General DATES:

The 6-7 week all-star season begins the first week in January and ends near the middle of February, with games scheduled on BOTH Saturdays and Sundays of most weekends....approximately 10-games per team.

FEES:

Because the Region's All-Star season is a supplemental season, there is an additional fee (which includes an all-star sweatshirt for each selected and paid participant).  Typically the All-Star season is approximately $60-70 per player.  (Region 214 Uniforms are returned at the end of each All-STar season, unlike regular season uniforms which are kept by the players).  Medals are given to the top 4 teams in each division in each All-Star category.

REFS:

Refs are provided for Section and Area all-star teams by higher certified refs in each Region (we need Refs to commit to All-stars!).

Regional All-Star teams provide their OWN refs....therefore, all-star players whose parents are certifed refs are a higher commodity for a coach making all-star selections with their open picks if none of the voted players have parents who ref.  (REMINDER....Region 214 hosts a nationally-recognized Ref certification course on December 7,8, 9 at SPHS...see note on the website about the Leo Nedeff Ref Course).
